Chilli Varieties

Generally when people think of chilli they think of heat. Of course some chilli varieties pack a hot punch, but the variety of flavours across the chilli range is extraordinary. From citrus to tropical fruit flavours, chillis really deserve more than just their association with heat. Even the hotter varieties have extraordinary flavours and can be enjoyed by those that don't enjoy the 'kick' by removing the seeds and inner membrance prior to using in cooking.

What Mad Mick has done here is to give you an overview of the many different varieties of chillis he grows. Check back often as Mad Mick is always on the look out for new varieties of chilli and he will update this page when he finds them.

Please note that the Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) test is very subjective because it relies on human interpretation. You may see that some of the SHU ratings given on this site vary with others quoted on other sites for the same chilli. There is no exact SHU rating for any particular chilli, regardless of what anyone tells you.

Viva la chilli (Mad Mick insisted the web guy put this bit in, even though he's not too sure what it means, but he reckons it sounds good).
